Plate is what we often call ANPR. Simply put, it is a technical system for machines to automatically identify license plate numbers. It is widely used in many places such as parking lot management and traffic violation capture! Regarding the actual use effect and specific operation methods of ANPR, many people actually have a lot of questions like me – such as whether it is accurate or whether it is fast or not.

ANPR mainly includes key modules such as image acquisition, preprocessing, character segmentation, and character recognition. Image collection is to take photos of license plates with a camera. This step is very important. If the photos are not clear, it will be useless. Pre-processing is to clean the photos, such as removing the shadows next to them, adjusting the brightness, etc., so that the license plate is clearer; character division is to separate each character on the license plate, such as "Beijing", "A", "1", "2", "3", "4", "5"; character recognition is to let the computer recognize what each separate character is, and finally combine it into a complete license plate number for us to show!

There are several practical tips to use ANPR to help you avoid common pitfalls:

1. Camera installation is particularly critical! Don't be too tilted. It's best to be aligned at about 45 degrees in front of the license plate. Too high or low will deform the license plate, and the recognition rate will drop suddenly.

2. The light must be sufficient – there is good sunlight during the day. If it is dark at night, you must install fill lights. Infra-red infrared lights are the best. They will not shake the driver's eyes and can also brighten the license plate!

3. Be sure to choose a lens with better performance – at least 2 million pixels, otherwise the small letters and numbers on the license plate will be blurred and the system will not recognize it at all, and it will be useless to spend money!

ANPR FAQ:

Q: Can ANPR still be used on rainy and smog days? ——A: Most systems are equipped with wipers or explosion-proof glass, and the effect is not great! But if the visibility is too low, such as if the big Fog cannot see his five fingers, there may be sporadic identification errors.

Q: The old license plate fades very seriously. Can it be identified? ——Answer: This is indeed a troublesome thing. If the fading is too heavy, even if the human eye can't see clearly, the machine will definitely not be able to do anything. So if the license plate is old, it is best to go to the vehicle management office to change the new license plate as soon as possible.

Comparing ANPR with traditional manual records, the advantages are simply too obvious: no one needs to keep staring at the license plate and manually marking numbers, saving a lot of labor costs! The recognition speed is calculated in seconds, and a car passes by "swoosh": some airports can handle 2-3 cars in one second! The data is stored directly in the computer and can be checked at any time. It will not be like a manual notebook that is accidentally lost and nothing will be lost! Another thing I want to tell you is to provide global procurement services for weak current intelligent products!

After all, ANPR has really brought great convenience to our lives in the current situation of increasingly congested urban traffic and parking lots full of cars – especially managers, which are simply a good helper to liberate both hands! As long as the early installation and debugging is done, and the lighting is regularly inspected and maintained regularly, there will basically be no major problems!
